Cookies

What the law says

According to EU directives and Swedish law, each site should from 2011-07-01

  • inform the user of each cookie that the site would store on the user's computer and the purpose of this cookie, and
  • obtain the user's explicit acceptance for the website to store the cookie.
If the user does not leave his approval the site must not store the cookie on the user's computer. However, if the user uses a function that uses cookie / cookies, and the website have informed of this, the user may be deemed to have accepted the cookie / cookies.

The Swedish law is (deliberately?) fuzzy in anticipation of industry recommendations, and perhaps also that the law has been interpreted by the courts.

What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file sent from our Web server and stored by your browser. There are two kinds of cookies, 'normal' cookies and 'session' cookies. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser and is not saved, (cookie name begins with: ASPSESSION) while ordinary cookies are stored on your computer for a longer period of time.

How we use cookies

The purpose of the use of cookies on this site is to display the text in the language you prefer (cookie name: COLanguage), and in order to display your contact list (cookie name: minakontakter) and to allow Byggis to use Google Analytics to analyze Web site usage (cookie names begins with: __utm). If cookies are accepted, Byggis will also store a cookie that tells that the user has accepted the Byggis sites all cookies, and when it happened (cookie name: KAKaccept). Top of each page will show when the user accepted the cookie and a possibility to refuse cookies. If you refuse cookies all cookies will be erased except session cookies, which disappear when you close your browser, and cookies that start with: __utm, which must be manually removed.

Google and Hitta can also put cookies on your hard drive in order to

  • show the search pages and search results
  • show translation pages
  • show calendar
  • show advertisements
  • analyze on which page of the website that the user arrives and from which page the user leaves the site (for example, thereby indicating whether any page is not working properly)

Since Byggis are not collecting any personal information about users, cookies that are stored by Byggis site cannot be considered to be intrusive.
